Occupational Therapy Pediatric Clinic

Jayhawk Explore & Soar: Occupational Therapy Clinic for Families

Jamestown Community College’s pediatric clinic, Jayhawk Explore & Soar: Occupational Therapy Clinic for Families, provides free quality care to our community, while educating and building the skills needed for future occupational therapy practitioners to be successful professionals. The clinic provides occupational therapy interventions that assist clients and caregivers in reaching their full potential.

Services are provided by JCC's Occupational Therapy Assistant students under the supervision of a licensed practitioner and guidance of OTA faculty to ensure that quality, evidence-informed care is provided to all clients.

How to receive services

Services are free to all community members. If you are interested in services, contact the OTA department at 716.338.1011 or OTA@mail.sunyjcc.edu.

Clinic hours vary each semester, depending on our schedule and student availability. Semesters are September to December, and January to May. Once the semester starts, we will not take any more clients until the next semester, unless a current client is no longer able to attend.

Explore the clinic

  • The entryway to the clinic is brightly colored with a sitting area for families to wait and for children to remove shoes and put on anti-slip socks, provided by the clinic. In an effort to help guide children through the routine when entering the clinic, visual cues are provided.
  • The Fort Calm corner is designed to provide calming through multi-sensory experiences. This area is surrounded by a sound canceling half wall/room divider.
  • The Makers Place table area allows for seated activities and sensory feedback through sensory bins and hands-on tasks.
  • The Challenger Base sensory gym allows children to play and explore through gross motor, visual, and tactile feedback.
  • The SEARCH Center office allows practitioners and students to connect with caregivers and families in a safe and comfortable environment to establish a client-centered plan of care for their children.
  • The OTA classroom, connected to the clinic, provides a learning environment for OTA students involved with the clinic.
