The Health and Physical Wellness career community at Jamestown Community College promotes classroom and community learning, support, mentorship, and networking opportunities for students interested in health and wellness careers. Students are well-prepared to lead the way in professions dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the people they serve.

JCC offers two-year degrees and one-year certificates that prepare you for employment in healthcare, education, and community-based settings.

You may be eligible to receive credit for prior work experience or learning in the healthcare field, such as Emergency Medical Technician training.

Individuals with a wide range of skills and interests are well-suited for health and wellness careers. In addition to roles that provide compassionate patient care, the healthcare field includes positions involving computer technology, organizational systems, data analysis, management, teaching, and artistic skill.

Your first semester in Health & Physical Wellness

Are you starting your first semester in the Health and Physical Wellness career community, but don’t know which program to choose? You can enroll in Individual Studies and use our suggested Semester 1 schedule:

  • INT 1555: Inquire
  • ENG 1510: English Composition I
  • PHE 1590: Principles of Fitness and Wellness
  • BIO 1510: Health Science
  • HCR 1200: Intro to Healthcare Studies

This schedule provides a solid foundation for the Health and Physical Wellness programs, with the flexibility to apply to other career communities if you later choose a different field of study.

Make sure to work with your advisor as you plan your schedule. Depending on your chosen field, not all suggested Semester 1 schedules guarantee an associate’s degree within two years.
