Digital Accessibility

What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility means that anything accessed via the web or an app is usable by everyone, including those with disabilities. Creating and selecting digital content and tools that meet high accessibility standards is a well-recognized best practice that has become law for all government agencies, including community colleges.

New Title II regulations require all digital content shared internally or externally by Jamestown Community College meets web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 Level AA) by April 2026. 

What is digital content & who is responsible?

We are all responsible for ensuring our digital content is accessible for students, employees, external partners, and community members:

  • Any email you send
  • Any document you share electronically
  • Any digital teaching tool or external website you ask students to use
  • Any digital form you ask someone to fill out
  • Any content you upload or provide for a JCC website or social media
  • Any video or other media you create
