SUNY JCC Uncommoners Open Auditions

All experience levels are encouraged to audition from 4-7 p.m. today and tomorrow for the SUNY JCC Uncommoners Fall Semester productions. "Decadal: A Descent from Glory (a Devised Theatre Tale)" is planned for October, and "Tales of Wonder" will take place in December. Actors, singers, and dancers are all needed!

Banned Books Read Out: "Freed Between the Lines"

Let's talk about Banned Books, censorship, and recent legislature passed to arrest librarians. Banned Books Week is an annual event launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. The event highlights the value of free and open access to information, by bringing librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types together in shared support of the freedom to seek and express ideas.

Workshop: Sourdough Making

The Hatch, in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cattaraugus County, is excited to announce its first workshop! Learn the science behind sourdough, its history, and the science behind it. The workshop will cover fermentation, food safety, and how to make sourdough starter. Attendees will get recipes, taste different sourdoughs, and leave ready to begin baking at home with their own starter!

Carry a poem in your pocket today to celebrate National Poetry Month! Throughout the day, randomly revisit your selection and read it out loud. In need of a poem? Taylor Flores and student workers for the library placed pockets stuffed with thoughtfully chosen poems around campus in hopes everyone joins in the joy!
