Public & Professional Services

The career community in Public and Professional Services at Jamestown Community College focuses on exceptional classroom instruction, internship opportunities, and career advisement provided by scholar-practitioners with years of experience in their fields. This career community prepares students for a variety of paths firmly rooted in community service and civic engagement.

Your first semester in Public & Professional Services

Are you starting your first semester in the Public and Professional Services career community, but don’t know which program to choose? You can enroll in Individual Studies and use one of our suggested Semester 1 schedules:

Human services and criminal justice:

  • INT 1555: Inquire
  • ENG 1510: English Composition I
  • PSY 1510: General Psychology
  • MAT 1500 or higher: appropriate math course for degree
  • HUS 1210: Intro to Human Service or CRI 1510: Intro to Criminal Justice or EDU 1510: Foundations of Education

Education:

  • INT 1555: Inquire
  • ENG 1510: English Composition I
  • PSY 1510: General Psychology
  • EDU 1510: Foundations of Education
  • World Language

Each schedule provides a solid foundation for the Public and Professional Services programs, with the flexibility to apply to other career communities if you later choose a different field of study.

Make sure to work with your advisor as you plan your schedule. Depending on your chosen field, not all suggested Semester 1 schedules guarantee an associate’s degree within two years.
