OLEAN, N.Y. — The Hatch at SUNY Jamestown Community College started its first entrepreneurship program this fall on the Cattaraugus County Campus.

The Hatchling Entrepreneurship Program: Where Innovations Takes Flight is an eight-week program for entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Olean area. Each week has a specific theme and is led by instructors who are experts in that area. Themes include marketing, legal strategies, finance fundamentals, hiring, market research, and successions planning.

“A business idea typically starts out as a creative concept, but when it comes to launching it there is so much more to consider,” said Brianna Shay, JCC’s coordinator of Innovation & Entrepreneurship. “The purpose of this program is to educate and provide a safe space for these entrepreneurs to grow and navigate the challenges of owning a small business. Our goal is to encourage these business owners to grow, be creative, and have a positive impact on our community.”

The following were accepted into the program: Taylor Eade of Eade Care; Jean Benson of Photos N Art Fusion; Jeff Andrews of Pine Hill Cattle Co.; Jessica Prescott of Frolic Friendly (Farms, Rabbitry, Creations); Carly Painter of ABC- A Beautiful Child; Dee and Stephanie Jedrosko of Dee’s Bridal & Formal; Patrick Rost of Info Security Blueprint; Lisa Ralston of Me Life Love; and Kathryn Cook, whose business name is undecided.

The Hatch Small Business Incubator provides a supportive environment that helps new and existing businesses and entrepreneurs grow and succeed. The Hatch provides resources, guidance, amenities, and physical space on JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus. Through this local resource, small businesses have access to mentors, networking opportunities, and workshops and classes to learn new skills and address common business challenges.
