OLEAN, N.Y. – A medical pop-up clinic for those in need is set for 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday  and 6 a.m to noon Sunday at the Olean YMCA.

Run by Remote Area Medical, the clinic delivers professionally licensed medical, dental, and vision care for people in need. Care is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Services are open to the public, and identification is not required.

Patients wait in line to receive care at a 2021 RAM clinic at JCC's Cattaraugus County Campus.

As part of the event, community programs and services, school-related resources, games, activities and giveaways are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon for the Olean Intermediate Middle School track area on Wayne St. The YMCA will also host family activities and games from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The patient parking lot at the YMCA will open at midnight on Friday night.  As patients arrive, they will be provided with additional information regarding clinic opening processes and next steps.

Those who would like services, especially dental services, are encouraged to arrive as early as possible. Patients should be prepared with their own food, water, medicines, and clothing when arriving early. Bathrooms will be provided.

Remote Area Medical, also known as RAM, has provided free healthcare services nationally through clinics since 1985. Care is provided by volunteer physicians, vision specialists, dental providers, nurses, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants.

SUNY Jamestown Community College’s Nursing program, St. Bonaventure University’s School of Health Professions, and the University at Buffalo’s School of Dental Medicine are providing faculty and students as volunteers during the two-day clinic. Residents and staff from Universal Primary Care in Olean will also deliver services.

The community host groups sponsoring the event are JCC, St. Bonaventure’s BonaResponds, Olean City School District, and the YMCA of the Twin Tiers.

The Olean area hosted RAM clinics in 2021 at JCC’s Cattaraugus County Campus and in 2017 at St. Bonaventure University.
