The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy recently awarded academy recruit Sam D. Robinson IV with the Dan Feather Memorial Scholarship.
The $1,000 scholarship was created by Verna Feather, the widow of Dan Feather, who was an 18-year veteran of the Jamestown Police Department. The recipient must be a Chautauqua County resident who is attending the Sheriff’s Academy and possesses qualities which reflect the professionalism and character that Feather demonstrated during his service as a police officer.

Robinson, the 24th recipient of the scholarship, attends the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Academy at SUNY Jamestown Community College. The Jamestown, N.Y. native and JCC graduate also serves in the United States Army Reserve and is an assistant coach for JCC’s men’s basketball team. He was accepted into the Sheriff’s Academy in August 2021.
It is the hope of Mrs. Feather that this scholarship can be a lasting memorial to Dan Feather and also help those who are starting out in pursuit of a career in police work. The scholarship is administered through the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation.
