Professor
I have had experience working with grades PreK-12 students and teachers as a classroom teacher and professional developer. I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees from SUNY Fredonia in elementary education and reading, and have a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) from Buffalo State College. I have New York State certifications for grades PreK-6 and 7-12 in English, reading, and building level (SAS), as well as District Level Administration (SDA). I am also eligible for a students with disabilities certification. I earned my Ph.D. in special education at Northcentral University as an online learner.
The majority of my classroom teaching experience has been with middle school and high school students. I taught alternative education for 16-21 year-olds who dropped out or were expelled from school. Many of these students came in lacking the appropriate reading skills for their age level. A lot of instruction was based in reading across all content areas to improve skills and knowledge in order to develop successful students. As a professional developer, I worked with classroom teachers, reading teachers, and building administrators to improve reading programs in many school districts across Western New York.
I spend my time on both the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses. When on the Jamestown Campus, I am in Hultquist 223. When on the Cattaraugus County Campus, I am in LLAC 217.
