Dr. Andy Wen is a retired music professor who now teaches privately and performs with the County Line Community Band in San Antonio, TX, where he also serves as vice-president/executive officer. He has performed in twenty-five states and twelve countries in performances including concertos with bands and orchestras, solo recitals, and chamber concerts. Wen has premiered five concertos that were written for him, and recorded two CDs. He presented the first saxophone recital in the National Concert Hall in Taipei, Taiwan; was the 1990 MTNA National Collegiate Artist Competition winner; has performed at the conferences of thirteen different organizations; taught master classes across the United States, China and Taiwan; been published multiple times in the Saxophone Symposium; was a featured guest artist in the Saxophone Journal; is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers; was a finalist for the Alpha Chi “Teacher of the Year Award”; and was a two-term treasurer of the North American Saxophone Alliance. Wen previously taught at Del Mar College where he was Department Chair; Millersville University; the Universities of Arkansas at Monticello and Little Rock. He has premiered more than fifty solo and chamber compositions including those by David Baker, Larry Bell, Robert Boury, Sy Brandon, James Chaudoir, Neil Flory, Fred Fox, Michel Fuste-Lambezat, Karen Griebling, John Harbison, David Kechley, Christian Lauba, L.A. Logrande, Kevin McKinney, and many others. Wen received degrees studying with Jean-Marie Londeix, Eugene Rousseau, Kenneth Fischer, and Allyn Reilly. Wen is a Conn-Selmer clinician and plays Selmer (Paris) saxophones
