JCC will hold several Excelsior Scholarship information sessions in May and June.

Current college students, individuals who are planning to start college in the fall, and parents of college bound students are encouraged to visit JCC’s financial aid and admissions staff during the sessions to learn how the scholarship could impact those attending JCC.

The sessions will be held from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on May 11 and June 8 and from 6-7 p.m. on May 17 and June 28 in the Collegiate Center on the Jamestown Campus, College Center on the Cattaraugus County Campus in Olean, and in the training center at the North County Center in Dunkirk.

The new Excelsior Scholarship will cover the cost of full-time tuition not met by an eligible New York state resident’s federal, state, and other grants.

Another new program, the NYS Part-time Scholarship Award Program, will provide up to $1,500/semester for four semesters, in addition to other federal and state grants, to eligible students enrolled at a New York state community college.

Students must file an annual FAFSA application at www.fafsa.gov and New York state TAP and Excelsior Scholarship applications at www.hesc.ny.gov. HESC will notify approved applicants of their status during the summer.
