JCC is launching Career Advantage, a program designed for adult students, at its Jamestown, Olean, and Dunkirk sites this fall.

“The Career Advantage program is another example of how JCC continues to meet the needs of our community with high quality, accessible, and affordable programs,” said JCC president Cory L. Duckworth.

Students in the Career Advantage program in business administration will attend classes one night a week, supplementing their classroom meetings with online instruction. The program is designed to help adults complete a college degree in two years while balancing work and family commitments.

Information sessions will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. on May 4 in the Center for Continuing Education at the Jamestown and Cattaraugus County campuses and North County Center. For more information, call 800.388.8557, extension 1001.

“Career Advantage is an excellent alternative for students who do not want a program that is totally online but who can concentrate on two courses as opposed to the four or five they may have in our traditional program,” said James Chimenti, a business administration professor who is coordinating the schedule of courses.

“We will make advisement, registration, financial aid, and other processes run smoothly for adult students without the hassle that can accompany starting and finishing a degree,” he added. “We have involved our partners from four-year colleges in the planning stages to ensure graduates from our program can progress seamlessly to a bachelor’s degree.”

A blend of business, computer applications, and social media marketing courses will provide Career Advantage students with skills that can be put to immediate use in the workplace.

“A streamlined admission and financial aid process has been created specifically for Career Advantage,” said Kirk Young, vice president of enrollment management and institutional advancement. “Adult students want to focus on their coursework, not the enrollment process.”

JCC’s Center for Continuing Education will facilitate services for students in the Career Advantage program.
